Welcome to Canine Coach
Our dogs don’t choose us, we choose them and often with a wonderful dream of what life with a dog will be like. However not all dogs thrive in our human orientated world, where their natural and normal canine behaviours can clash with our culture.
I'm Kim, Head Dog Trainer & Behaviour Specialist at Canine Coach. Let me translate a better line of communication between you and your dog so you can enjoy your relationship without frustration, confusion, or mistakes. Having someone give you clear, individualized and educated guidance, especially when things aren’t going to plan, will help both you and your dog get back on track.
From new relationships to old friends, all ages, all breeds, I am here to help!
Services
Every dog owner team are different, there's no 'one size fits all' when it comes to training and behaviour modification. I specialise in individualised packages with pricing options to suit all budgets. We also offer board and training in our home environment, VIP homestays and respite care.
How I Train & Teach
My goal is not only to teach new behaviours but life skills that will promote and enhance a mutually beneficial relationship for both you the guardian, and your dog, that spans a lifetime.

I use a modern, ethical and effective reward-based system, the '4 P's' as taught by The School of Canine Science – Produce, Pinpoint, Payout, Proofing.

“We adopted our Daisy girl from Saving Hope Foundation. She and the rest of her litter were found with her Mum in an abandoned house in the Bay of Islands. Thanks to the Saving Hope community, we’ve been lucky enough to connect with some of her siblings. Some of them are confident dogs, but our Daisy girl is not. She’s got massive anxiety and can struggle meeting new people. Doggy daycare turned her away after only half an hour, and trainers have turned her down for one on one training thinking she couldn’t be trained and that she was too co-dependent on me. She enjoyed pack walks but was never allowed off leash as she was too much of a “flight risk”. That was until we moved to Stanmore Bay and we met Kimberley Harwood. Kim took on the challenge of Daisy and spent weeks building up a bond with her. Daisy can now go out on walks with super social Dozer and be off leash with someone that’s not her immediate family. I’m forever grateful to Kim Canine Coach. I cannot recommend Kim enough, she’s truly given Daisy a new life.”
